Where to go in February in the sun?

February, rain, cold, low morale. Nothing to do except playing lightning roulette online free. We let go of our socks. And the gloves, the hat. We want the sun, the blue sky and the sea. We want to relax by the water, and play explorers in the bush. We want the horizon of the beaches, the rustle of the temples, the energy of the cities. We want sunny places. Ten destinations chosen by Voyageurs du Monde advisors to go on a February vacation in the sun.

Seychelles

Dream island, treasure island, pirate island, turtle island… Mahé, Praslin, fantastic playgrounds for families, to be approached by boat, to be explored barefoot. A mask, a snorkel, parrot fish, butterflies, Picasso are a real eye-catcher. The water temperature is close to that of the bath at home. The turtles are giant. Children and parents are delighted.

Egypt

In the land of the Pharaohs, a family cruise on the Nile from Aswan to Luxor aboard the Steam Ship Sudan, a grand Edwardian style steamer – children are accepted on board from the age of six. Your budding archaeologists will love the golden mask of Tutankhamun, the Sphinx of Giza, the temples of Karnak.

Oman

In Oman – grandiose landscapes between mountains and large canyons – in the heart of the European winter, we bathe in the translucent waters of a wadi. And we seek coolness on its banks, in the shade of date palms with leaning trunks, before facing the heat of the desert. And a stay in Oman, far from the bling Emirates, is also the discovery of a culture, and a hospitable people, open to the world.

Brazil

In February, we want to experience the carnival in Salvador de Bahia. Five days of jubilation under the southern sun, a major popular festival that brings together the entire city – 2 million people in the streets and on the beach. Rio is the carnival of samba schools, Bahia that of the people – a carnival, which no offense to Bolsonaro, remains anti-establishment: politicians are mocked and corrupt people are mocked!

Guadeloupe

The sun in winter, the tropical forest and the turquoise sea, we love everything about Guadeloupe: Grande-Terre, the seaside, long white sand beaches and turquoise lagoon, Basse-Terre, the wild, canopy and cocoa, and the Saintes – one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Children love sailing aboard a catamaran, diving among corals, walking on a volcano, biting into sugar cane… – so do their parents.

Dominican Republic

Far from mass tourism, in Samana, a peninsula that points to the northeast, a virgin land, kilometers of white sand, thousands of coconut trees, Las Terranas, a small village on the water, seems to have been created to let it go -socket. Swimming, diving, relaxing, we go there to chill to the sound of merengue, and enjoy the quiet hospitality of its inhabitants.

Sri Lanka

Yoga classes, Ayurvedic treatments, massage and meditation, vegetarian plate: a week for yourself, to recharge your batteries in the heart of winter. A retreat to live to the rhythm of daylight, surrounded by nature, in the north of Sri Lanka, between hills and rice fields. Then, body and soul soothed, head west to Puttalam, a peninsula between ocean and lagoon, far from the crowds that flock to the east of the country, for two days of seaside relaxation.

Tanzania

There is the spectacle of dawn all in orange shades and the nights under the tent, like an extension of childhood emotions. The immense savannahs of the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro crater, the pink beauty of Lake Manyara, its flamingos and pelicans. The baobabs and elephants of Tarangire, the crocodiles and hippos of Ruaha. Then, on the Indian Ocean, the Zanzibar archipelago. The gray of a pontoon blends into the blue of the sky, the streaked blond sand recalls the coat of zebras. We get lost in the network of alleys and the scents of spices of the old town of Stone Town, while the coral massifs reveal to us, with mask and snorkel, as many splendors as elsewhere in deep diving.
